Urban dust - Organic contaminants
This Standard Reference Material (SRM) is an atmospheric particulate material collected in an urban area and
is intended for use in evaluating analytical methods for the determination of selected polycyclic aromatic
hydrocarbons (PAHs), polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) congeners, and chlorinated pesticides in atmospheric
particulate material and similar matrices. Reference values are also provided for nitro-substituted polycyclic
aromatic hydrocarbons (nitro-PAHs), decabromodiphenyl ether, toxaphene congeners, and polychlorinated
dibenzo-p-dioxin and dibenzofuran congeners. Information concentration values are provided for selected
hydrocarbons, hopanes, steranes, ketones, and particle-size characteristics. All of the constituents for which
certified, reference, and information values are provided in NIST-1649B are naturally present in the particulate
material.
